Setting up a PTFE extrusion factory is a complex, high-precision engineering task that demands in-depth process knowledge. PTFE extrusion is a specialized process involving the paste extrusion. Essential Equipment for PTFE Extrusion Factory Setup.

1. PTFE Preform press – A PTFE preform press is a hydraulic or pneumatic press used to compress PTFE fine powder mixed with lubricant into a cylindrical billet. This billet (also called a “preform”) is then loaded into a PTFE extruder for further processing.

2. Extruder Machine – The extruder is the heart of the extrusion plant. A PTFE extruder is a hydraulic press-based machine that uses paste extrusion technology to compress pre-formed PTFE billets through a specially designed die and mandrel, producing seamless extrudates such as pipes/ liners

3. PTFE Die and Mandrel Setup – In PTFE extrusion, the die and mandrel setup is the most critical part of the entire system. These precision-engineered components directly influence the inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), wall thickness, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy of the final product PTFE Liner

4. PTFE Blending process – PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a non-melt-processable polymer, meaning it does not flow like regular thermoplastics. To enable extrusion, fine PTFE powder is mixed with a lubricant, to create a moldable paste that can be compacted and extruded.

5. PTFE Sintering Oven – Critical Equipment in PTFE Processing. Sintering is the process of heating PTFE to its melting point and then cooling it slowly, allowing the material to fuse and become fully solidified. Unlike thermoplastics, PTFE doesn’t melt and flow — it undergoes a gel state transition, which requires precise thermal management.

6. PTFE Flaring Machine– Flaring involves heating and expanding the pipe end outward, typically into a conical or bell shape, to provide a seal face for bolting with flanges. PTFE, being non-melt-processable, requires precision temperature control and mechanical pressure to shape it without cracking.

7. PTFE Draw Bench – A Draw Bench is a crucial piece of equipment used in the post-extrusion processing of PTFE liners. Its primary purpose is to stretch or pull PTFE liners through a fixed sizing die or mandrel to achieve a smooth surface finish, precise diameter, and straight alignment. This process is especially important for long-length liners used in PTFE-lined pipes, columns, and bellows

8. Quality Inspection & Testing Area – Before packaging, products are checked for Dimensional accuracy, Wall thickness, Surface finish, Tensile strength (for PTFE Liners)
